Rev. Fr. Godfrey Gopep, the Parish Priest of St Finbers Catholic Church, Rayfield, Jos, has advised couples to love and forgive each other at all times.
Gopep gave the advice in his sermon on Sunday in Jos, insisting that such attitude would make the family and society a better place.
The priest, who decried the spate of domestic violence in the society, blamed the surge of the menace on lack of love and forgiveness among couples.
He advised parents to imbibe the virtue of forgiveness and love, saying they are crucial to the survival of any family.
”Forgiveness and love are very important factors that contributes to the growth of any family and society in general.
”With our shortcomings, God still forgives and loves us without reservation and that’s exactly what we should extend to others particularly our wives, husbands and children.
”Today, cases of domestic violence is on the rise simply because we don’t forgive and love each other unconditionally.
”Young people are showing little or no interest in marriage due to the growing number of broken homes.
”So, couples must learn to forgive and love each other at all times,” he advised.
The cleric also called on Christians to show love by supporting the poor and less privileged persons in the society
