Cleric urges religious leaders to accept opinions of other adherents

Mr Ezekiel Oluwatobi of Christ Praise Church, Ilorin, has called on religious leaders in the country to understand, tolerate and accept opinions of other opposing religious adherents.
Oluwatobi, who made the call in Ilorin on Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said religious tolerance was key to peaceful coexistence in the nation.
According to him, there is need to respect other people’s opinions irrespective of their differences.
“Religious leaders must stop creating unnecessary arguments on social media all in the name of religion.
“There is need to respect other people’s opinion. No need to be selfish in whatever we are doing. Let us live together like one family.
“We cannot expected to be right all the time. Let us appreciate others opinion and profer solution to the Nigeria problem,” he said.
Oluwatobi also called on religious leaders to desist from hate speech and embrace peace.
He advised them to act as role models, and stop inciting war and violence with their utterances.
“Enough of hate speech. Let us make peace our watch word. Let us tolerate each other irrespective of our religious differences,” he said.
