Court Orders Phillip Shuaibu’s Reinstatement as Edo Deputy Governor
On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja overturned Phillip Shaibu’s impeachment from his position as Edo’s deputy governor.
In a ruling, Justice James Omotosho ordered his return to the position, citing the Edo State House of Assembly’s disregard for due process in the alleged impeachment.
According to Justice Omotosho, the House of Assembly’s premise for the impeachment proceedings was an unfounded legal accusation that did not amount to egregious wrongdoing.

As a result, the judge directed the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police to give him the security he needs to return to work and carry out his official duties until the conclusion of his term.
Justice Omotosho also revoked Shaibu’s appointment as deputy governor and appointed a new one.
Shaibu reportedly broke down in tears of happiness when he heard the judge’s rulings while he was in court.
