Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Imo State filed a petition with the Supreme Court, requesting a certificate of return designating him as the state’s legitimate governor, but it was denied.
Ihedioha had told the supreme court that Uche Nwosu had previously been proclaimed by the court as the legitimate candidate of the All Progressives Congress, or APC and that Governor Hope Uzodinma was therefore not eligible to compete for office in the first place.
Judge Tijjani Abubakar delivered the decision for the Supreme Court on Tuesday, dismissing the motion as meritless and vexatious.
It granted Mike Ozekhome N40 million in costs for taking the case before the judge.
