COVID-19: Anambra Lawmaker, Ezeudu Calls To Equip Hospitals

The Chief Whip of the 7th legislature of Anambra state and member representing Dunukofia state constituency, Hon. Lawrence Chukwuweike Ezeudu has stressed the dire need for what he described as a radical approach to ensure that all the health care centres in the state will have the capacities to manage symptoms of COVID-19.

Ezeudu who spoke with journalists at the state assembly complex Awka, observed that the nation was currently living in perilous times and people get infected with the COVID-19 virus.

He expressed concern that people ignorantly treated COVID-19 with levity as if it were mere malaria symptoms which according to him was the remote reason he called on the governor to strengthen the capacities of all health facilities in the state to enable them to frontally tackle health issues especially the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

Although he was cognizant that Anambra State has the best functional healthcare centres when compared to other states, but also emphasized that nothing is as important as putting weapons together to fight the devil called coronavirus.

He said also that the state assembly complex was being disinfected and fumigated from time to time to curtail and prevent the spread of the dreaded disease while encouraging the citizenry to support government efforts in the fight against COVID-19 by religiously adhering strictly to the non-pharmaceutical precautionary requirements of regular handwashing, compulsory social distancing, use of facemasks in public places, sanitization of hands, to mention a few in order to win the war against coronavirus infections.
