COVID-19 Pzifer And BioNTech Says Vaccines Prevent Asymptomatic Infections

COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE have said that real-world data from Israel suggests that their vaccines are 94 per cent effective in preventing asymptomatic infections which means that it might reduce transmission significantly.

According to Reuters, the companies said that the latest analysis collected from Israel showed that the vaccine was 97 per cent effective in preventing symptomatic disease, severe disease and death. This was what was reported from the clinical trial of both companies in December.

According to the analysis, unvaccinated individuals were 44 times more likely to develop symptomatic COVID-19 and 29 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than those who had received the vaccine.

The data, collected between Jan. 17 and March 6, has not yet been peer reviewed.
