The Dangote Refinery will be a big buyer of Nigerian Crude when it begins operation, creating a market for $11 billion of Nigerian crude.
According to information on the company’s website, the refinery will meet 100 percent of Nigeria’s requirement for all refined products and also have a surplus for export. The plant has a 650,000 barrels per day (BPD ) refining capacity. It is expected to be Africa’s biggest oil refinery and the world’s biggest single-train facility.
“The pipeline infrastructure at the refinery is the largest anywhere in the world, with 1,100 kilometers to handle 3 billion Standard Cubic Feet of gas per day. The Refinery alone has a 400MW Power Plant that is able to meet the total power requirement of Ibadan DisCo,” the website said.
The refinery was earlier scheduled to begin production early 2021 but with COVID-19 delays, it may not start production until 2022.
