Delta State, Nigerian Air Force Unite Against Insecurity

By Lawrence Bilal Audu

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has emphasized the need for concerted efforts to root out criminal elements in Delta State and foster effective civil-military cooperation. He noted that a peaceful environment is essential for meaningful development, and urged citizens to support security agents in their mission to rid the state of criminals.

Abubakar made the remarks Wednesday when he met with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State at Government House, Asaba, to discuss security issues and strengthen collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the state government.

Air Marshal Abubakar commended Governor Oborevwori for his support to the Armed Forces and the NAF, particularly in the last 12 months. He praised the allocation of 66.6 hectares of land at Osubi for the development of a full-fledged NAF Base, signifying a landmark event in the history of Delta State and NAF relations.

Governor Oborevwori commended the CAS for the NAF’s commitment to fighting insecurity and noted that the visit testified to the strong bond and partnership between Delta State and the NAF. He assured the CAS that his administration would soon commence construction of the road leading to the allocated land and promised to allocate another parcel of land for a Post-Service Housing Scheme for retiring NAF personnel.

The Governor also condemned the unfortunate incident of March 2024, which resulted in the loss of lives of some Nigerian Army personnel at Okuama Village.

The meeting culminated in the presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy for the 66.6 hectares of land at Osubi by the Governor to the CAS.

This collaboration between Delta State and the NAF marks a significant step towards a more secure and prosperous region.”Delta State and Nigerian Air Force Unite Against Insecurity”
