According to Defence Headquarters, in the previous week, troops have taken out no fewer than 213 terrorists and detained 283 more in various operating areas across the nation.
According to a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by Maj Gen Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, forces also managed to rescue 26 kidnapped hostages and arrest 67 oil thieves during that time.
In addition, 189 different weapons and 4,003 different rounds of ammunition were found by the troops, according to Buba. These included, among other weapons, 111 AK-47 rifles, G3 rifles, 31 locally made guns, five pump-action guns, automated pump-action guns, and 26 Dane guns.
He added that the air component conducted air neutralisation of several ISWAP/JAS terrorists and destroyed their logistics within the Southern Tumbuns.
According to him, in the North Central, the troops of operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke neutralised nine insurgents and arrested 18 violent extremists within the week. They also recovered several arms, ammunition and other items.
In the North West, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralised 26 terrorists and rescued 15 kidnapped hostages during the week. He said the air component had, on March 5, knocked out terrorists’ commanders and their foot soldiers hibernating in Southern Tsaskiya in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
He continued by saying that the air component disrupted the Southern Tumbuns terrorists’ logistics and carried out air neutralization of multiple ISWAP/JAS terrorists.
He claimed that within a week, the forces of operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke in the North Central region had detained eighteen violent extremists and neutralized nine rebels. A number of weapons, ammunition, and other things were also found.
Throughout the week, Operation Hadarin Daji forces in the North West killed 26 terrorists and freed 15 hostages who had been kidnapped. He said that on March 5, terrorists’ commanders and foot soldiers who were hibernating in Southern Tsaskiya in Katsina State’s Safana Local Government Area were eliminated by the air component.
Buba added that Operation Whirl Punch forces had freed nine hostages who had been abducted, neutralized 17 rebels, and apprehended 42 violent extremists and terrorists.
Additionally, air interdiction was carried out against the enclave of terrorist leader Alhaji Labi in Kaduna State’s Gaude Forest.
According to Buba, Operation Delta Safe forces found and demolished 45 illicit refining installations in the South-South, along with 150 dugout trenches, 30 boats, 73 storage tanks, 209 drums, and 15 vehicles.
He continued by saying that during the course of the week, the military found 13,000 liters of PMS, 313,780 liters of illegally refined AGO, and 1.2 million liters of stolen crude oil.
According to Buba, Operation UDO KA forces in the Southeast eliminated 26 terrorists and seized three G3 rifles, twelve AK-47 rifles, one made gun, two pump-action guns, automated pump-action guns, RPG bombs, and 269 rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition.
