When the event happened, the red car, which had the registration number TSE – 423 – AA from Benue State, was traveling from the Barcelona Hotels on Blantyre Street in the Wuse 2 neighborhood.
APC members from the North Central region were holding a solidarity demonstration in favor of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the party’s national leader, at the same time as the fire broke out.
Participants at the rally argued against Ganduje’s tenure being ended too soon.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said that workers at the secretariat’s entrance gate sounded the alarm, yelling “fire, fire,” which caused bystanders to respond quickly and scatter for safety.
Thanks to the swift action of drivers and security personnel positioned at the APC secretariat, who collaborated to put out the fire, the situation was swiftly brought under control.
After the fire was extinguished, the burned car was repositioned away from the front gate and parked next to Stallion Court, which is situated on Blantyre Street.
Abdullahi, an eyewitness, stated, “The driver acted fast; if not, it would have been a black Wednesday.”
