A presidential hopeful, Chief Stanley Osifo, has urged the new National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to take Nigerians for granted in all its activities.
Osifo, who vied for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential ticket in 2019 elections but later defected to APC before the poll, gave the advice in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new APC NWC is chaired by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC stakeholders for the peaceful and successful National Convention which held on March 26.
Osifo urged the new national officials of the ruling party to always consider Nigeria in all they do.
According to him, the APC has shown that it is in a class of its own with the way and manner the leader of the party, Buhari intervened in little skirmishes raised before the convention.
The APC chieftain said that the discipline in the party that was exhibited by all contending chairmanship aspirants in agreeing to a consensus arrangement was commendable.
“The ability of the party to achieve these outcomes are noteworthy,” he added.
The aspirant said that the new APC NWC leadership and members must forge bonds of cohesion and unity to move the party forward.
He said that the new APC national chairman must work with progressive stakeholders in the party to bridge relationships that would ensure electoral victory at all levels for the APC in forthcoming elections.
“They must work hard to expand the membership base of the APC both nationally and internationally.
” They must ensure that APC captures more states both in and outside of elections periods.
“They must make efforts to address issues among aggrieved members of the party.
“They must exhibit selflessness and fairness in their disposition and execution of duties to members irrespective of class, creed or socio-political leaning. They must eliminate forceful ‘cabal’.
“They should make themselves accessible to party members. They should support each other’s strength to eliminate weaknesses in the party,” Osifo said.
He urged the NWC to ensure that loyalty to party remained their guiding principle, adding that party supremacy should be exalted in all actions and decisions.
According to him, as 2023 general elections approach, the NWC must coordinate efforts to ensure APC remains in service at all levels to Nigerians and Nigeria in both internal and international affairs.
He wished the new national officials a successful and victorious term in office. (NAN)
