The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), retired Brig-Gen. Buba Marwa, has issued a warning to young people about the use and trafficking of illegal narcotics.
Marwa delivered the counsel on Tuesday during the opening of the organization’s new Zonal Office in Ayingba, Kogi’s Dekina Local Government Area.
The creation of the zonal office in Ayingba, according to Marwa, who was represented by Mr. Hassan Sakaba, the Zonal Commander for Zone C, was done to assist the agency in its efforts to stop the widespread drug misuse and trafficking in Kogi and other North Central regions.
To prevent the devastation of the youth, he urged the people of Kogi to stand with the agency in its battle against drug use and trafficking.
“We should step up to the plate as concerned citizens and patriots of our beloved nation to make sure that we combat the threat and keep our youths safe.
“Our children, who hold great promise as our future leaders, are losing their lives due to illicit drugs. We must therefore not allow that to happen,” he said.
