Ebonyi State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has elected new Executives to run the Affairs of the chapel in the next three years.
The election which was held at the Chapel’s office located at #17 Enugu, Abakaliki expressway, Spera-in-.deo plaza Abakaliki saw, Comrade Nwafor Samson of the Daily Independent newspaper emerged as the Chairman of the Chapel, while Comrade Nabob Ogbonna of the Daily Trust newspaper clinched the office of the Secretary.
Also, Comrade Christian Ogbonna of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) emerged unopposed as the Treasurer, while the positions of Vice Chairman, Financial Secretary and Auditor had no contestants.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly elected executive, Comrade Nwafor Samson thanked the members of the Chapel for finding them worthy to serve and assured them that they would not take it for granted.
Nwafor said there was no winner and no loser in the election, and pledged that the new executive led by him would cooperate and work with every member for the purpose of peace and progress of the Chapel.
He announced the plans of the new executive to constitute the Elders’ Council whose assignment would be to assist in ensuring stability, peace and in driving the policies and programmes of the new leadership.
He further pledged that the new executive would ensure that the Correspondents’ Chapel in Ebonyi State continued to uphold the ethics and code of conduct of the Journalism profession.
