The event took place on January 17, 2025. The agents were on a mission to capture Yahoo Boys, they travelled from EFCC’s zonal office in Enugu.
But when the suspects started shooting at the officers, the operation became lethal. One officer was shot dead at the scene; he was identified as an assistant superintendent who had just completed a promotional exam.
As of Friday evening, another officer had been critically injured and was in the hospital.
The identification of the male suspect who was taken into custody during the operation has not yet been made public.
Whether he has legal counsel is still unknown. Neither the Anambra State Police nor the EFCC spokesperson had made an official remark on the subject as of the time of publishing. Investigations are still being conducted.
