The arraignment of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on Wednesday over alleged fraudulent procurement to the tune of N6.9 billion did not take place.
Surprisingly, against expectations from the public, the matter was not listed on the case list of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.
No reason was given as lawyers to both parties were absent in court on Wednesday.
Recall that the arraignment of the embattled CBN governor was also stalled last Thursday due to the absence of the second defendant who was said to be indisposed.
Although Emefiele (the first defendant) was present in court, the second defendant, a female CBN employee, Sa’adatu Yaro, was not in court.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Hamza Muazu had adjourned the matter till today, August 23, 2023 following an application for adjournment.
