Enugu Police Command parades 83 Suspects for various crimes as CP charges officers to remain professional

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anayo Uzuegbu has said that a total of 83 crime suspects have been arrested for various crimes between January and February 20, 2024.

Uzuegbu who briefed the press on Tuesday while parading the suspects at the Police headquarters for various crimes such as abduction, armed robbery, vandalism, defilement among others, said a total of 83 suspects were arrested within the period under review and abducted or kidnapped victims rescued.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include; and 20 firearms of different calibres recovered, 46 ammunitions of different calibres,125
motor vehicles, 35 tricycles, and 15
motorcycles.

He cautioned officers and men of the Command to shun corruption and ill-conduct capable of tarnishing the image of the Force and their own image, charging them to be professional, firm, upright and diligent in their duties in order to be able to fight crimes and criminality in the state.

He equally called on rumour mongers, rabble-rousers, peddlers of fake, misinformative and disinformative news to desist forthwith or face dare consequences.

“I caution the Officers and Men of Enugu State Command to shun acts of corruption, unprofessionalism and moral debasements, which bring with them severe disciplinary consequences.

“They must remain professional, firm, upright and diligent in the performance of their duties,” he admonished.

” I want to warn unrepentant criminals to turn over a new leaf, as we shall more than ever, turn up the heat and make Enugu State more uncomfortable for them and their activities. And if they fail to repent, then we shall stop at nothing to ruthlessly deal with them.

“I also want to strongly caution rumour mongers, rabble-rousers and peddlers of fake, misinformative and disinformative news in Enugu State to desist forthwith, as the Police would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found wanting, in accordance with extant laws, particularly the Cybercrime Act,” he warned.

According to the Commissioner, “there is no doubt that the task of tackling the increasing security challenges in our society is daily becoming daunting. Nonetheless, the assurance I bring the way of the good people of Enugu State is that we will remain focused and unflinching in our commitment to enthrone a crime-free and peaceful environment for all and sundry to thrive in their legitimate enterprises.”

He however urged the citizenry to remain law-abiding, security conscious and continue to support the Police, through the provision of credible and actionable security information; while also reporting suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station.
