Fayemi Swears in New Acting CJ In Ekiti, Makes Case For Judicial Workers

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has called on the National Judicial council NJC to make case for the upward review of salaries and allowances of Judicial workers as part of their agitation for judicial autonomy.

The Governor made the call On Monday in Ado Ekiti at the swearing-in of the new acting chief judge of Ekiti state Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye.

The Governor noted that it was unfair that for the past ten years nothing was done on the salaries and allowances of judicial workers in spite of increment in the emoluments and salaries of political workers and civil servants.

He urged the NJC to work with the stakeholders in the sector to make a genuine case for upward review of judicial workers salaries to improve their standard of living.

He criticised JUSUN and NJC for not listing such review as an item in the ongoing agitation for judicial autonomy.

The Governor urged the new Acting Chief Judge to key into his administration commitment to ensure total eradication of gender base violence and other crimes against humanity in the state.

Governor Fayemi also called for the establishment of the mobile court in police stations across the country to facilitate easy prosecution of criminal cases.

Earlier the acting chief judge Justice John Adeyeye promised to discharge his duties effectively and consolidate on the successes recorded by his predecessor.

The new acting chief judge justice John Adeyeye was born in Araromi Ugbesi in Ekiti east local govt area of the state and replaced the immediate past chief judge justice Ayodeji Daramola who retired having attained the mandatory retiring age of sixty-five.
