FCT area council election: Stakeholders demand dialogue, laud Wike over infrastructure

Many residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), drawn from the ranks of original inhabitants, residents, professional and trade organizations, under the aegis of FCT Stakeholders Assembly (FSA), have expressed their appreciation for the infrastructural advancements carried out by the Minister of the FCT, Barr Nyesom Wike.

In a statement on Monday, signed by the President of Assembly, Dr. Aliyu Daniel Baka Kwali, the stakeholders voiced their commendations for Wike’s ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure.

According to Aliyu, since assuming office, Wike has implemented a series of ambitious projects aimed at improving transportation, healthcare, and public utilities in Abuja.

The Assembly also commended the Minister’s commitment to engaging with local communities to identify their specific needs which ensure that the voices of FCT natives are heard and prioritized in the planning of infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile, the Assembly requested the Minister to facilitate a round table discussion with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to iron out some concerns over the coming Area Councils elections in 2026 and 2027 general election in FCT.

He said: “Key developmental projects have littered every length and width of Abuja which include the expansion of road networks and the construction of new public schools, all of which have contributed to better living standards for residents.

“Under Barr Wike’s leadership, we have witnessed tangible changes in our communities, the completion of these critical roadways has eased traffic congestion and also increased the beautification of the entire city of Abuja, which are very vital not just for today, but for the future of our territory.

“In addition to transportation and education, Wike has prioritized healthcare infrastructure, leading to the renovation and expansion of several primary healthcare centers throughout the FCT. This initiative has garnered significant praise from local health advocates, who believe that these upgrades will improve access to essential medical services in underserved areas.

“We will like our Minister to facilitate a meeting between the president Tinubu and the Assembly to say thank you to him for giving us Mr. Project as FCT minister and one of us as a minister for special Duties. Not only that Area Councils elections and general election are around the corner. So, we will like to see him to discuss some concerns to ensure victory.”
