FCTA takes action to destroy seized automobiles.

Some of the more than 130 seized cars that failed integrity checks will be crushed, according to the Federal Capital Territory Administration, or FCTA.

This was said by Dr. Abdulateef Bello, the Director of the Department of Road Traffic Services, or DRTS, on Monday after showing reporters around the impounded cars in the different Abuja offices.

He said that the cars will go through routine inspections for roadworthiness, registration, and other issues, and that those that didn’t meet the requirements would be destroyed.

He went on to say that the owners of some of the seized cars would appear before the mobile court and pay fines in accordance with the law.

“Some of the cars here and some of their owners will have to appear before mobile courts, which will determine what punishments they will receive.

However, some people are adamant that they won’t return to the road. The owners will get an invitation from us. The cars will be smashed, and we’ll ask them to remove everything of value from them,” he stated.

The director added that the police would be tasked with prosecuting anyone who had been detained on suspicion of committing crimes under false pretenses.

But Bello clarified that during nighttime raids over the past two weeks, 130 cars were seized.
