Fear and tension has gripped residents of the border town of Ajowa in Akoko northwest local government of Ondo state as three trucks loaded with herdsmen stormed the community.
Ajowa Akoko is the community where a 40-year-old farmer Dayo, a brother to Gani Mohammed-Ajowa, former aide to governor Akeredolu, was brutally macheted to death by killer herders who destroyed his farm crops.
It was gathered that the three trucks loaded with strange herdsmen from the north that stormed the town’s forest without notice in the night.
According to a reliable source they sneaked into the area in the night and the people went to the forest and confirmed same.
Ondo state government had given order to herders to register for regularisation of their operations in the state and failure, they should vacate the state.
Two of the youths Soji Ogedengbe and Audu Badru who led others to the forest confirmed to newsmen that they met many herders who couldn’t explain how they got to the area.
The community leaders and the leader of the vigilante group expressed worries over the development and called on the security agencies and the state government to act fast before the situation degenerate.
They however fingered an indigene simply identify as Ojo to be the brain behind the illegal immigrants settling in Ajowa Akoko forest.
