Federal Government Commences N30,000 Grants To Artisans Nationwide

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the payment of N30,000 grants to artisans across the country. This is in a bid to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries include taxi, okada, bus, Keke NAPEP, Bolt, and Uber drivers as well as cart pushers nationwide.

Under the FG’s artisan support scheme, about 333,000 artisans and transport business operators across the country are in line to be paid a one-time grant of N30,000 each.

Personal Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad announced this in a tweet on Sunday, December 6, 2020, by

“The Federal Government has commenced N30,000 grants for taxi, bus, okada, keke Napep, Uber, Bolt drivers and cart pushers across the country, this is in furtherance of its commitment to support small businesses to cushion the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This initiative is part of the Buhari-led administration’s MSME Survival Fund schemes for transporters and artisans, which is under the handling of the Vice President’s office.

According to Legit.ng, verified artisans are already receiving payments of the N30,000 one-time grants. So far, about 59,000 verified artisans are said to have already received their payments in about 23 states across the country, including the Federal Capital Territory.
