FG flag off construction of 258 KM superhighway in Kebbi

The road is a component of the 1068 km super highway under taken by the Tinubu administration.

Flagging off the project at Gulumbe town near Birnin Kebbi this Friday, Governor Nasir Idris who represented President Tinubu, commended the first citizen of the nation, for being alive to his responsibilities of improving the quality of life of the citizenry of this great country.

“President Tinubu has ensured the execution of this unprecedented project of the longest super highway in Nigeria, the people of this country are happy with the president, he has delivered on his promises”,

“Equally, we are appreciative of the National Assembly and the Federal Executive Council for ensuring that the project has come to stay”.

“The people of Kebbi are also thankful to President Tinubu for making money available for the construction work”.

“We are confident about the ability and capacity of the construction firm, (Hightech) to execute quality job according to specifications, in view of their previous good performance elsewhere.

In a remark, the Minister for Works, Engr. David Umahi, symbolically presented the Contractor to the representative of the President.

David Umahi told the gathering that the Sokoto – Badagry Super Highway was conceived by the government of late Shehu Shagari 48 years ago, but left abandoned by subsequent regimes until the advent of incumbent administration of Tinubu.

“This is not just a road project, this is an investment with high yields, 68 dams will be constructed along the highway for agricultural revolution towards the attainment of food security”.

“In addition, there will be wind energy benefits, agro allied products will be processed while a train track will be built along the highway for the transportation of goods and personnel”.

“The timeframe for completion is 36 months but we shall combine efforts to make the contractor deliver in two years”, Umahi announced.

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, affirmed the support of traditional rulers to the success of the gigantic highway project and loyalty to the incumbent administration.

Other speakers at the event include the Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Sen. Muhammadu Adamu Aliero.

They commended President Tinubu for his infrastructural development in Nigeria, encompassing the construction of the Sokoto – Badagry Super Highway under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
