Finidi George Heads Enyimba International Football Club Coaching Crew

The governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has lauded Enyimba football club’s appointment of ex-Nigerian international, Finidi George as the team’s new head coach.

The governor made this known when he received Finidi George in his residence yesterday.

Governor Ikpeazu who described Finidi as a football icon said that he was excited by the news of Finidi’s appointment and thanked him for accepting to return home to develop the game.

“I must say that I am very proud of ENYIMBA for making the bold move of appointing Finidi, I was very excited when I heard about it and I know this is a sign of good thing and I also want to thank you for accepting to come back home to contribute to the growth of the game”.

The governor who described Abia state as a home of football, said that Enyimba is more than a club. “It is a religion for our people”, adding that with you as their coach, the team will make an impact in Africa under you.

“As far as football is concerned you are a brand, you may not know it, but I was your great fan in your playing days.”Governor Ikpeazu added.

He assured the new coach of the state government support and charged him to transmit the discipline and professionalism that characterised his playing career to the team.

Finidi George, who was in the company of his son and the chairman of Enyimba football club, Chief Felix Anyansi, thanked the governor for receiving him and for showing keen interest in the development of sports in the state.

He assured the governor of doing his best to bring Enyimba back to its former glory on the African stage.
