The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) completed an airlift mission yesterday, October 16, 2024, to transport vital relief supplies to flood victims in Borno State, demonstrating once more its dedication to aiding civil authorities.
“The relief supplies, which were donated by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, under the Renewed Hope Initiative, were airlifted by the NAF’s C-130 Hercules aircraft from Abuja to Maiduguri,” said Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information. He stated the goods included food, clothing, sanitary necessities, and kid’s toys. “These critical resources will provide much-needed succour to affected communities in Maiduguri, that were devastated by the 10 September flood disaster.”
Prior to being given to the Borno State Government for distribution to flood victims, the relief supplies were received by top NAF officials under the direction of the Air Component Commander, Operation HADIN KAI. This operation demonstrates the NAF’s commitment to delivering humanitarian aid promptly, especially in areas that have been badly affected by natural catastrophes. Recall that throughout the crisis, the NAF not only conducted airlift flights but also started a medical outreach program to aid flood victims and fed more than 2,000 internally displaced people.
The NAF and the First Lady’s office working together shows how important it is to work together to lessen the suffering of those impacted by the Borno State disaster.
