Fubara oversees Rivers structure. PDP Govs dare Wike, win support from NWC

Governors who were elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform have maintained that they recognize Rivers State’s Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the party’s leader in the state.

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of the state, and Fubara have been engaged in a power struggle over the party’s leadership.

The PDP governors were forewarned by Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to avoid Rivers State, as he threatened to set fire in each of their states if they continued to support their estranged godson.

In response to Wike’s contentious outbursts, Governor Bala Mohammed, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, stated that their support for Fubara would not be rescinded.

Speaking during the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) delegation reception, Bauchi State’s current governor, Mohammed, stated that the PDP governors’ decision was appropriate.

Speaking to reporters soon after the meeting, Mohammed continued, “Governor Fubara should be given authority over the party’s structure because he is the most senior PDP member in Rivers state.”

According to him, the NWC delegation has endorsed the PDP Governors’ Forum’s resolution to recognize Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara as the party’s leader in the state.

It is expected that the decision will be made in the proper order. The party’s leader in the state is Governor Fubara. Along these lines, the delegation firmly committed to supporting the PDP Governors Forum’s position in Rivers State, and we all agreed to uphold the rule of law.

“We are all aware of the mentor-mentee relationship that exists between the FCT Minister and the current Governor of Rivers State. We are putting in a lot of work in the background to make sure they come together and collaborate in the way PDP is recognized for.

Although we can’t control things here, we’ve mustered the bravery and determination to ensure that the correct thing is done,” he said
