Google brings Bard Chatbot to Nigeria, other countries with Gemini Pro

Nigeria is one of the nations and regions to which Google has extended the Bard Chatbot with Gemini Pro.

According to Nigeria, Google, a worldwide tech giant, has announced that its Bard chatbot, which is now powered by the Gemini Pro model, is now accessible in Nigeria as part of its global service expansion that will begin on February 1, 2024.

More than 40 languages, including German, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, Hindi, Telugu, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Tamil, and Malayalam, are now supported by the upgraded Bard, according to confirmation from Google.

With the debut of its new generative AI models in December 2023, Google introduced the flagship Gemini Ultra, the more affordable Gemini Pro, and the Gemini Nano, which is intended to operate on gadgets like the Pixel 8. The business upgraded Bard with Gemini Pro for English-language chats at the same time.

In an effort to keep up with fierce competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google added Bard’s AI capabilities to Google Assistant in October of last year, enabling users to perform tasks like creating a grocery list or scheduling a vacation. Teens may now access Bard in English, however there are still limitations that keep Bard from producing dangerous content like illicit or age-restricted materials. These were introduced in November.

Google stated that the chatbot will be more adept at thinking, brainstorming, writing, planning, and comprehending and summarizing material, but it did not provide a number for the improvements.

With the latest version, Bard users may now, according to Google, make photos in English using the AI tool in the majority of countries worldwide for free.

“This new capability is powered by our updated Imagen 2 model, which is designed to balance quality and speed, delivering high-quality, photorealistic outputs,” the business said in a statement on Thursday. To bring your concept to life, simply enter in a description like “create an image of a dog riding a surfboard,” and Bard will create unique, comprehensive images for you.

Google said it had taken steps to stop people from abusing this kind of image-creating tool after realizing it may be misused.

Our AI Principles dictate that image creation was created with accountability in mind. To guarantee, for example, that photos produced with Bard can be easily identified from genuine human artwork, Bard employs SynthID to engrave watermarks into the pixels of images it generates.

Our technological safeguards and training data security initiatives aim to restrict content that is violent, offensive, or sexually explicit. We also use filters that are intended to prevent the creation of photographs featuring identifiable individuals. The corporation declared, “We’ll keep investing in innovative methods to enhance the security and privacy safeguards of our models.
