Barely 48 hours after Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State pledged to earmarked N5 billion for the construction of a new NYSC orientation camp, one truck of rice and bonus of N200,000 to each corps members serving in the state, has redeemed his pledge by delivering a truckload of rice and 20 cows to the National Youths Service Crops (NYSC).
Gov. Bago made the pronouncement during the swearing in of 2024 Batch B, Stream 1, orientation course on Tuesday, 2nd July,2024.
The Coordinator of NYSC in Niger State, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, confirmed the receipt of the items while speaking with journalist in Minna, on Thursday.
She noted that the governor had equally promised to sink five boreholes and additional toilet facilities for both male and female hostels.
Mrs Olayinka further disclosed that she has taken delivery of 600 bags of rice and 20 cows, adding that items were received with great elation by both corps members and camp officials.
She revealed that the process for the payment of the N200,000 was ongoing, while the survey
for the five boreholes and the toilets announced by the governor has commenced.
The NYSC state coordinator said the donation of the items would help mitigate the challenges faced by course participants during orientation exercises.
