The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu has sworn-in the newly 21 Local Government Chairmen in Kebbi State.
The new Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and their Councilors were elected into their respective offices during the local government elections held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 across Kebbi State.
Speaking shortly after the swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, Gov. Idris charged them to be transparent to their people at the grassroots level.
While urging them to operate and open door policy in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, the governor advised the chairmen to incorporate the vice chairmen and councilors in running the affairs of their respective councils.
He said that as servants of the people, they should do everything possible to bring the people close to them, while advising them to strive hard to work for the betterment of generality.
“Today, we are making another history, because election was held in all the 21 LGAs and APC as a party emerged victorious at all levels.
“As I earlier said, if goodwill and track records will speak, APC will win all the elective positions in this LGAs elections,” he said.
The governor noted with satisfaction that the election was conducted fairly, freely, and peacefully, devoid of any rancho or any breach of peace.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Umar Abubakar.
Earlier, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) described the governor as a man of honour and honesty, who dedicated himself to the welfare of his people.
The SSG, who represented by the Permanent Secretary, Carbinate Office, Alhaji Nasiru Kigo, said it was the efforts of the governor that led to today’s occasion.
He lauded the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, his subordinates and other stakeholders, who according to him, played key roles towards the success of the party at polls.
The governor later splashed the newly sworn-in chairmen with brand new Hilux vehicles to facilitate their official engagements.
