Due to an inflow of bandits and unfavorable components in the mining-related activities, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has banned all mining activity within the state.
In a media interview, State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Bashiru Gegu stated that Governor Ododo presided over the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, which is when the decision to halt mining operations was made.
According to Gegu, any kind of illicit mining activity or infiltration will not be tolerated by the state Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources.
“This is to enable the state to have real mining data,” he declared. A thorough cleaning up of the industry will significantly reduce or completely eradicate illicit activity.
The state will cooperate with the Federal Mines Officers and the security services while adhering to the game’s rules.
The state will not support criminal activity or infiltration of any kind.
“We need to reduce insecurity, so we are pleading with all mining companies to cooperate with the state in these circumstances.”
We haven’t made any deals for Ododo, who is hiding Yahaya Bello in the Kogi Government House.
In other news, Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, has been charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of concealing his predecessor Yahaya Bello at the state government house.
Despite having immunity while serving as governor, the EFCC claimed that Ododo had turned himself into an accomplice in crime through his conduct.
Wilson Uwujaren, an EFCC spokesperson, made the claims on Thursday in an interview with Arise TV.
In addition, he charged Bello with dishonesty and evasion for disobeying a court order to appear before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Speaking about the former governor’s appearance in the EFCC headquarters parking lot on September 18, Uwujaren claimed Bello was merely pulling off a media prank meant to mislead the people and accomplish a dark goal.
