Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has signed into Law the 2022 budget passed by the State House of Assembly.
The event took place on Wednesday, at the Government House, Shendam road, Lafia, the State Capital.
Governor Sule, had some Weeks ago presented a budget Proposal of One Hundred and Nine Billion, eight Hundred and one Million, Five Hundred and Twenty Four Thousand, eight Hundred and Seventy Nine Naira, Forty-Nine Kobo (N109,801,524,879.49k) to the Lawmakers for consideration and approval.
However, on passing the budget the Legislators increased it to N114.3 billion Naira, a difference of N4.5 Billion Naira, which the Governor rejected and subsequently returned the passed budget to the Assembly for readjustment due to the indices of achievements of the 2021 Budget.
Consequently the House during its emergency sitting on Wednesday, adjusted and re-passed a total budget of N110.8 Billion Naira which the governor signed.
Speaking during the signing of the Budget into Law, governor Sule said his administration will achieve greatness in the year 2022.
According to him “2022 will be the best Year with the passage of this budget, if we can’t perform with the 2022 budget, then we will not be able to perform again”.
He commended the Lawmakers for spending a lot of their time to work on the appropriation bill that led to its speedy passage.
He assured the people of the State that the new Commissioners and Special Advisers sworn in last week were carefully selected based on their levels of competency, adding that they will all play their roles towards proper utilization of the budget for the overall good of the State.
