Graduates and Students Pleading with LP’s Datti Baba-Ahmed’s BAZE University to Lift the Ban

Students and alumni are pleading with the school administration to lift the suspension right away.

Remember that BAZE University Abuja was recently barred by the Council of Legal Education for persistently exceeding the authorized quota and enrolling more than 750 students to its law faculty since 2017. This referred to the 50 students every academic session that the Datti Baba-Ahmed University is given, which is typically filled in 15 years.

The university’s decision to be banned alarmed the students, who spoke to NAN about how it would affect the university’s legal school going forward.

After graduating from the law faculty, Vanessa Adeh is currently awaiting admission to law school and expressed her frustration.

After graduating in 2022, I have been delaying my law school admission. The school stated that although they are trying to find a solution, it is taking longer.

“I hope they quickly address the flaws, but I already feel regret.

“It truly breaks my heart that I attended a private university to avoid hearing stories like these, but regrettably, I am now dealing with what I had hoped to avoid,” the woman remarked.

She added that a lot of her classmates were disturbed by the state of affairs and questioned why the administration of the school would permit the problem to get so bad that it warranted a ban.

While worried about how the situation would affect her and other students, Hadiza Umar, a law student at the university, asked the administration to address the problems before they worsen.

Another student, who asked to remain anonymous, stated that the fact that the university administration has not provided its side of the story or what steps it is taking to address the problem is her biggest worry.

She asked the institution to release information that would ease the fears of many alumni and students who were concerned that they might have been impacted by the incident.

Another law faculty alumnus, Usman Aliyu, pleaded with the school administration to release details on the specific steps they are taking to address the issue.

According to a statement issued by the Nigerian Law School, 347 law graduates from BAZE University are currently waiting to be admitted to law school, according to the results of their investigations.

In addition, it stated that BAZE offers a 3-year law degree to certain pupils, which is shorter than the five-year national benchmark curriculum.
