By Phil Okose, Onitsha

The Anambra State chairman of Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, Monday urged Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to accord a state burial to late Chief Mrs Njideka Ezeife, wife of former Governor of the state, Chief Dr.Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

“Governor Professor Charles Soludo should ensure a befitting state burial for the late first lady of Anambra state and wife of former governor of Anambra state and renowned Igbo leader, Chief Dr Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife,” he said.

Recall that late Chief Mrs Njideka Ezeife died a few months ago abroad while on a routine medical check up.

According to Ezekwueme, “Mrs Ezeife was vibrant, compassionate, astute, selfless and humble.

“It is of prime importance to note that she played indispensable roles in the success story of Ezeife’s administration in laying the foundation for nascent new Anambra State as wife of the First Executive Governor of Anambra state Chief Dr Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife.”

“It will be a step in the right direction for Gov Soludo to reciprocate the relentless efforts of Dr Ezeife towards conduct of Anambra November 16th 2021 governorship election and his immense sacrifices and contributions towards greater and better Anambra state and Igbo nation by rehabilitating dilapidated and decrepit Ichida-Igboukwu road to enable easy access to his country home for the burial of his dear wife slated for 20th April 2022”.

“There is no better time than now to appreciate, identify and sympathize with our great leader whose selflessness and desire for the interest and common good remain unequal and unprecedented

“It will portray the state in bad light if the access road leading to his house is inaccessible in view of huge personalities that will attend the burial, hence the inevitable urgent need for the government to commence palliative works on the road.”
