Not less than 400 bags of spaghetti were on Monday donated to aged women, men and youths from across eight wards of Nasarawa Central State constituency by the lawmaker representing them at the House of Assembly, Honourable Hajara Danyaro.
At the event which took place at the palace of the Emir of Nasarawa, Dr. Ibrahim Usman Jibrin, on Monday, the legislator said the gesture was to cushion the effect of hardship resulting from the global economic meltdown from which Nasarawa and Nigeria are not exempted.
Dr. Ibrahim appreciated God for enabling her to provide for those in need as the representative of the people to ensure that their needs are met.
The lawmaker said although this is not the cardinal objective of a lawmaker, but she considered the wellbeing of her people a priority as a mother, especially at a period like this when prices of goods in the market are inflated.
She said as the first woman from Nasarawa Western senatorial district to be elected into the state assembly, she will ensure that there is a paradigm shift by bringing her motherly role to bear in adding value to women and youths for economic development.
Ibrahim added that the administration of Engineer Abdullahi Sule placed emphasis on advancing development and security of citizens of the state and sought the people’s support the administration.
She assured that there is much to be seen from her and promised to connect all rural schools with solar power.
The Emir of Nasarawa at the occasion lauded the lawmaker for her good heart in coming to the aid of the people in her few months in the state assembly.
“We are in a time where prices of food items and other consumable have skyrocketed at an unprecedented proportion.
“But with this kind of gesture from our member, honourable Hajara Danyaro, the burdens becomes much more easier,” he said.
The monarch further appealed to other members of Nasarawa town and the state to emulate her exemplary leadership.
Also commending the effort of the lawmaker, former member that represented Nasarawa/Udege State Constituency, Okpoku Okpoku, said he is optimistic that Danyaro will deliver.
“I am proud of her, knowing her capacity and pedigree. I urged her constituents to continue to support her for more dividend of democracy.
“I am also very sure that will make remarkable difference as the first female lawmaker from Nasarawa western senatorial zone and the second woman to be elected into the Nasarawa state house of assembly since 1999,” Okpoku added.
