Health Sector Is Our Priority, Says Gov. Ikpeazu

Dr. Okezie IKPEAZU has described the health sector as one of the cardinal pillars of his administration.

The Governor made this assertion while receiving members of the Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House Umuahia.

Governor Ikpeazu represented by his Deputy Governor Sir Udo Oko Chukwu lauded Doctors and medical workers for their dedication and the sacrifice they made in controlling the spread of Covid-19 and other communicable diseases in the state and the nation in general.

He condoled them on the loss of some of their members, assuring them that their labour will not be in vain.

Governor Ikpeazu disclosed that Government has rebuilt and renovated so many general hospitals in the state.

He assured them that everything will be done to ensure that ABSUTH is up and running, as It remains one of the health instructions that give the state pride of place.

Ikpeazu lauded the Resident Doctors for choosing Abia as the venue for their NEC meeting, urging them to use the forum to deliberate on issues that will promote the health of the citizenry.

He assured them of government support in achieving the objectives of the Association.

Earlier in his speech, the National President of Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors, Dr. Uyilawa Okhueihesuyi, said they are in the state for NEC meeting to deliberate on health issues, especially on the Covid-19 pandemic which has devastated the world.

He appealed to the state government to look into the problems confronting ABSUTH, insurance coverage for Doctors, training and retraining of Doctors in the state.
