Health status takes centre stage as Obi, Atiku, Tinubu trade words

* Don’t handover a sick country to a sick man, Obi warns Nigerians
*You’re mentally, physically unfit, Atiku tells Tinubu
*Resign now,  you’re sick, corrupt, Tinubu fires back
Ahead of the February presidential election, the three front line runners, namely, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC)have been querying the health status of each other.
The presidential candidates have asked Nigerians to embrace the candidate that enjoys physical and mental fitness.
While Peter Obi warned Nigerians not to handover a sick nation to a sick man, the former vice president of Nigeria and the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar told the nation that the presidential candidate of the APC, Tinubu,  is not mentally and physically fit to rule the country.
This was just as the presidential candidate of the ruling party, Bola Tinubu fired back at Atiku, asking him to perish his ambition because he is sick and corrupt.
Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi  noted that Nigeria can be presently classified as a sick nation and as such it cannot be handed to a sick man as president.
Obi, who gave the warning when he spoke at his alma mater, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN), in continuation of his nationwide campaign,  warned against handing over a sick country to a sick man.
Obi during his interaction with the UNN business School and other stakeholders of the institution warned, “This country is sick and should not be handed over to a sick person. I am not saying that anyone is sick. We have been here for over two hours, we don’t want people who can’t stand for 30 minutes”
He also emphasized that character and trust should be things to look out for in this recruitment era to avoid plunging this country into further mess, pointing out that the identity of whoever wants to lead this country must be thoroughly examined with nothing to hide.
“In United States during election, they go for debates, somebody once asked Barack Obama questions that are personal and he answered. But here in Nigeria, somebody wants to contest election, we don’t know his real age, we don’t know his name, we don’t know the schools he attended. Nobody knows his real identity and he is pushing to lead everybody”
The former Anambra state Governor said that what we need for the job of Nigeria President is character and people we can’t trust.
“My name is Peter Obi, I can say I went to CKC, went to University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Both the VC today, the DVC today, these are my school mates. We came into University the same year and left the same year. The people I went to school, I can see them here today, my seniors and my juniors. How come we now have people who do not have classmate. This is very important”
The LP standard bearer said that everybody shouldn’t have to go to formal education but their record must be straight. “Afe Babalola once told me he never had the opportunity of going to a formal school. There is nothing wrong in that. There are so many people who have done well in life and never went to formal school”.
Obi also warned that Nigerians should watch out for person’s antecedents not on what they claim they will do.
“If you said you will fight corruption, let’s go to the road you have passed and see what is remaining there after you left”
He reiterated his earlier position that, “this year’s election must be based on competence as it requires physical and mental energy, not a retirement job.”
APC PCC asks Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from presidential race over alleged corrupt practices in audio leaks
The All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council (APC PCC) has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the presidential candidate of the opposition peoples democratic party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar from the presidential race over his alleged involvement in corrupt practices in an audio clip-making the rounds in the social media. Bayo Onanuga APC PCC Director, Media and Publicity in a statement also asked Atiku Abubakar to come clean on his health status.
“A man who wants to rule Nigeria and wants Nigerians to repose some trust in him must immediately and honestly address these twin issues: his health and his legendary corruption,” the council noted.
The council enjoined the electorates to out rightly reject Atiku over his inability to render accounts of the aforementioned issues.
Continuing, it added: “It’s time for Atiku Abubakar, the 76-year-old presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party to come clean over two issues clouding his campaign: his health status and his scandalous confession of how he colluded with his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to fleece the Nigerian treasury, using the special purpose vehicles after he became Vice-President in 1999.
“If Atiku has some modicum of honour, he ought to have stepped down from the race that he is bound to lose again, following the release of his audio clip, in which he provides a vivid explanation into the modus operandi of his legendary corruption.
“So far, there has been no notable response from Atiku’s camp about the disturbing revelation, except for a futile attempt to disown the whistle-blower, Michael Achimugu, a media consultant to Atiku. “Nigerians are appalled that Atiku and PDP are so shameless that they have shrugged off the bombshell.
“We implore Nigerians, however, to hold Atiku to account over the shocking revelation of rejecting him at the polls in February.
“Atiku is also not talking about his health status even when his hirelings daily make futile attempts to divert public attention to his main rival by cooking up lies upon lies. Whereas Atiku is the candidate that Nigerians should be sorely worried about.
“The lies of several years and the various diversionary tactics are no longer sustainable. Atiku’s edifice of lies is about to crash on him. The PDP presidential candidate is certainly not okay, the papering efforts notwithstanding.
“Eyebrows were raised when Atiku did not return to the country after the December holidays to continue his lackluster and faltering 5th campaign for Nigeria’s presidency. Amid the concern by political watchers that Atiku was missing from 21 December 2022 on the field of electioneering campaign, came the story by the online platform Sahara Reporters that Atiku was flown to the UK from his usual home in Dubai to London for treatment.
“The story has not been vigorously denied.
“We have it on good authority that Atiku indeed fell ill while missing on the field. He was indeed in the UK for some medical help, though handlers camouflage that he was there on the invitation of some British officials at Whitehall, in a mimic of the earlier visit of the APC rival, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Despite the efforts by his handlers to showcase Atiku as healthy and physically fit to endure the rigours of the presidential campaign, pictures from rallies have belied this. Campaign pictures sometimes showed him being helped to descend steps at stadia. Sometimes, he walked with apparent handicaps, dragging his feet.
“The irrefutable insight into Atiku’s health status was the revelation by his divorced wife, Jennifer Douglas last year that Atiku was admitted to a German hospital for an operation, amid their bitter divorce.
“In a viral letter published in February 2022, Jennifer quoted Atiku’s self-admission that he was in Germany for medicals, which explained why he was unable to retrieve his belongings from a Dubai house that Jennifer had taken over.
“I hear you have moved to Dubai to take over the house. I am still in Germany for my medicals.* Make sure all my properties including (redacted) are intact so I can collect all my properties. I wish you well’”, Jennifer quoted Atiku as saying.
She then responded to him: “ Excellency, I am left with no other option as we need to get on with our lives amicably. I hope your medicals are coming up well. I wish you well too.”
You’re mentally, physically unfit to be  President , Atiku hits back Tinubu
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has said his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Bola Tinubu is sick and unfit to be the Nigerian President.
The former Vice President also described Tinubu as a “wobbly, wonky and narcotic-devastated Presidential Candidate”.
On Wednesday, Tinubu in a statement by the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, said he has it on good authority that Atiku indeed fell ill and travelled to the UK to seek medical help.
Reacting in a statement signed by the spokesperson for the Atiku-Okowa Campaign, Kola Ologbondiyan, Atiku said Tinubu is corrupt and unfit for public office owing to his alleged corruption.
The statement read, “It is imperative to observe that our campaign had focused on issues and refrained from Tinubu’s appalling health issues prior to this ignoble public dance of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign.
“However, since Tinubu by himself has opened the channels for Nigerians to examine his ill health, we have no other option than to further expose that the APC Candidate must be suffering from manifest Parkinson’s disease accompanied with incontinence.
“For clarity, Parkinson’s disease is a brain disorder which symptoms include shaking hands, stiffness of limbs, difficulty with coordination, problem with balance when walking; articulation disorder, memory problems as well as general mental and physical weakness which are all being witnessed in the APC Presidential Candidate.
“This perhaps accounts for the desperation, the endless gaffes, the articulation errors, the incoherence, the many blunders and disconnection from reality for which Asiwaju Tinubu has become the butt of weird jokes among Nigerians and internationally.
“It is rather unfortunate that the APC Presidential Candidate, who cannot stand erect or walk up an elevation unaided, who is plagued by visible tremor of the hands, who palpitates at the slightest physical exertion and who is reported in the public space as being challenged by incontinence could attempt to speak on the health status of any Nigerian. Moreover, some medical professionals have associated certain cases of nerve cell death with narcotic use and unhealthy lifestyle and our campaign urges Tinubu to examine himself in that regard.
“Furthermore, Nigerians find it incongruous that the tarnished Asiwaju Tinubu who is badgered by a smelly criminal past including the $460,000 forfeiture sentence for narcotic related offence by a Court of competent jurisdiction in the United States; alleged looting of Lagos State treasury and stripping of her property; cases of forgery, impersonation, perjury, inconsistencies in name, age as well as questionable educational background, ancestry and genealogy could attempt to speak on corruption and integrity.
“Asiwaju Tinubu should rather hide his face in shame given his malodourous activities for which well-meaning Nigerians have dissociated themselves from his Presidential Campaign.
“In any case, Nigerians are aware that Tinubu is not ethically, physically and mentally fit to hold office as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, unlike the decent, honest, physically, mentally and emotionally fit Atiku Abubakar, who exhibits the manifest readiness, intellectual alertness, capacity and experience to lead our nation at this critical time.
“Those pushing Emilokan’s candidature cannot claim to be unaware that he is not fit to preside over a country of 200 million people. They just don’t wish Nigeria well.”
