The terrific rainstorm made trees to fall on buildings leading to the death of six persons in Oko community in Oshimili South LGA of Delta State.
The State Information Commissioner Hon Charles Aniagwu broke the news today while addressing reporters in Asaba.
He also said one of the victims was critically injured and presently being treated at the Asaba specialist hospital Asaba.
The Commissioner stated the government and people of Delta State condoled the families of the dead victims.
Aniagwu also disclosed that a ten year old boy was also missing in the Okotome area of Oshimili North local government area of Delta State.
According to the commissioner, the young boy in a bid to retrieve his pairs of slippers fell into the drain and was swept away by the rain water.
He said that at the time of speaking with newsmen today, the boy has not be found.
He maintained that the state government has set up Search and Rescue team to find the missing child.
The Search and Rescue team is been coordinated by the secretary to state government, Chief Patrick Ukah and the Commissioner for Special Duties.
The commissioner also spoke on the inauguration committee for May 29 handover.
Aniagwu made it clear that membership of the inauguration committee should not be seen as appointment.
He argued that there was no way every member of the PDP could be members of that committee.
That the committee was meant to usher in smooth handover to the Oborevwori administration and people should stop reading meanings into the composition.
He explained that no member of the PDP is sidelined and all those worked for the PDP victory in the state shall be rewarded.
