The Commandants of Amotekun corps in Ondo state, Chief Adetunji Adeleye on Saturday said none of his officials was killed in a reported crossfire between his men and suspected herdsmen in Owo local government area of the state.
He also said four suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, and destruction of farmlands at Jugbere settlement/Sanusi village in the same local government.
Briefing newsmen in Akure, the state capital, the Commander of Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects were arrested within one hour of the operation.
He said some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers, illegal miners, and herdsmen, killed a farmer and a member of a vigilante group in the area and burnt vehicles and motorcycles of Amotekun corps as well as destroying farmlands.
Chief Adeleye, who said the operation was carried out with the collaboration of the Nigerian Army, Police force and the DSS, explained that there was no crossfire but the security operatives only responded to a distress call from the area.
The commander allowed the operative, Mr Sesan Adebayo popularly known as Otapo, that was rumoured to have been missing or killed during the operation to speak with newsmen.
Chief Adeleye, said the existing curfew on motorcycles okada riders in the state from six O’clock in the evening was still in force, noting that his men would start its enforcement on Monday, defaulting motorcyclists would be prosecuted for a security breach.
