More than 2000 persons over the weekend benefitted from the empowerment programme of Honorable Chinedu Ogah, the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal constituency at the National Assembly.
The program which was held at his country home Amagu Ikwo was the climax of the activities marking his eighteen months in office as well as his birthday celebration.
Also prior to the program, over 59 infrastructural projects attracted and executed by Comrade Ogah were commissioned across the constituency. These include motorized water boreholes, classroom blocks, roads, bridges, civic centres, electricity projects, hospitals and other life touching projects.
Items distributed during the program included Cars, tricycles, motorcycles agricultural inputs like bags of fertilizer and cash gifts
Speaking to journalists during the program, Hon Ogah said he distributed those items to alleviate the suffering of his constituents.
“I gave them the vehicles which include Siena bus, 307 Peugeot car, 4-runner jeep and Audi car to ease their mobility.
“Also a total number of 17 Tricycles and 25 Motorcycles were distributed for the glory of God and to the benefits of human kinds.
“Over 30,000 bags of fertilizer were as well distributed to boost food production in the State”, Ogah said.
He said the cash gifts were to enable the beneficiaries to start businesses.
He urged Nigerian youths to be dedicated in all they are doing in order to make the country the best place to be.
He commended the support and solidarity of his constituents, Ebonyi State government, his colleagues at NASS and the federal government since his assumption of office on 19th November 2019.
Ogah listed his scorecards and achievements to include the provision of life touching projects to his people, sponsorship of over seven Bills, moved eleven motions and presented four petitions at the floor of the National Assembly.
In his words, “In the area of human empowerment, we have assisted over 200 graduates to secure permanent federal employment while over 5000 constituents have benefitted from NDE program. We have distributed 20cars, 350 Motorcycles, 45 Tricycles, weaving and Grinding machines and paid the fees of 850 candidates for WAEC in 2019.
” We have spent over 150 million naira in giving cash assistance to people in need, sponsored and empowered selected persons in skill acquisition and training. Paid medical bills of indigent patients and provided shelter for the people. We awarded a scholarship to over 150 students in the tertiary institution while more than 200 undergraduates have been assisted to pay their school fees.
“Furthermore, about 15 students of MSc were paid their fees and two million naira was expended to assist some PhD students in various universities. He said.
Chairman of the occasion and Minister of State for Mining and Steel, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah described the celebrant as a unique personality who is very passionate about development and in helping his people.
He said he remains a gift and great asset not only to Ikwo people but Ebonyi State, Nigeria nation and humanity in general.
In his remarks the Speaker House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila applauded the kind-heartedness of the lawmaker towards the people of Ebonyi State and beyond.
The Speaker who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris thanked the Ebonyi people for being great supporters of All Progressive Congress APC.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki, His Lordship Michael Okoro prayed for peace in Nigeria and for continuous blessings of God upon the family of Chinedu Ogah.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke appreciated the honourable member and restated their readiness for his re-election come 2023.
Nwokoyo Chukwoyo of Ndiagu Amagu ll who received Sienna bus, thanked Ogah for the empowerment and prayed God for his blessings upon him.
The event attracted the Monmouth crowd from different parts of the country including members of the National Assembly, members of the Ebonyi State Executive Council, traditional rulers and different youths and women groups.
The constituents danced and appreciated God for the gift of Hon. Comrade Chinedu Ogah. Climax of the ceremony was a Thanksgiving mass and cutting of Comrade Ogah’s 45th Birthday cake.
