…as Igwe elect demand recognition, staff of office
A former House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, Zeribe Chukwuma Ezeanuna has recounted how he birthed and nurtured APGA for many years in Ogbaru Local Government Area as a pioneer member of the party along with his late father Chief Pius Chukwuma Ezeanuna but still yet to receive reward from the party owing to discrimination against him in politics of Ogbaru.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting in Okpoko on how to return APGA to the winning ways in Ogbaru as a response to the good works being done in Ogbaru by Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Ezeanuna who was the candidate of APGA for Federal House of Representatives elections in 2003, 2007 and 2023 recalled that he joined APGA in 2003 on his return from studies in United States of America and birthed the party in Ogbaru and took it up to nuture it for development purposes.
He noted that he nutured the party to be a strong force needed to win elections in Ogbaru courtesy of the support of his father lamenting that he has consistently denied the chance of winning elections into the Federal House of Representatives to represent Ogbaru Federal Constituency in National Assembly amid overwhelming popularity and acceptability owing to political discrimination fueled by impression that he is not a native of Ogbaru land.
He explained “I birthed APGA in Ogbaru after i came back from United States after my studies in 2003 intent to use political means to consolidate and enhance the legacies of my father in developing of Ogbaru and Anambra State. My father is a pioneer developer of Ogbaru and Anambra at large economically, socially and religiously building business, building people with jobs, sponsoring football competitions and environmental programs at the State level as well as contributing massively to building Churches and schools.
“So I relied on the strength of my father to build the structure needed to position APGA to win elections in Ogbaru. Then I came out to contest for House of Representatives and emerged as the candidate of APGA. That was when they realised that Ezeanuna is not a native of Ogbaru land, so they did everything to stop me. Again they stopped me for the same House of Representatives election in 2007 and 2023
He argued that APGA would have coast home to victory in 2023 if he was duly recognized as candidate of the party for Federal House of Representative seat of Ogbaru Federal Constituency election lamenting that the discrimination against Ezeanuna has continued to endure unabated to the detriment of the popularity and acceptability of Ezeanuna which remains a very strong tool for APGA to win elections in Ogbaru.
He commmended Governor Soludo for the on going road construction in Okpoko with about 9 roads on board bto new life vowing to muster what it takes to return APGA to winning ways if he is duly rewarded with position in appreciation of his massive contributions to the development of the party over y years.
Earlier in his remark, the convener of the meeting Chief B.S.U Muofunanya who doubles as city father and Igwe elect of Okpoko said the meeting was meant to.strategise on how to fix APGA back to winning ways in Okpoko in response to the good governance brought to Okpoko community by Governor Soludo noting that it is unfair to APGA to lose elections in Ogbaru when the people are benefiting from government.
The Igwe elect added ” Governor Soludo is constructing roads all over Okpoko community not minding that Okpoko did not vote for APGA in 2023 elections. So Okpoko community must deliver APGA in subsequent elections in Ogbaru and Anambra State. That’s why I called for this meeting. Make no mistake about it”
He appealed to Governor Soludo to issue him with certificate of recognition and staff of office as the traditional ruler of Okpoko community as such would empower him to do a better job in bridging the Gap between the people and government for security, development and other purposes.
