I facilitated Nnamdi Kanu’s release in 2017, Soludo reveals

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Charles Soludo said he led the 12 prominent Igbos leaders to Abuja, to facilitate the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in 2017. Prof. Soludo also noted that he would continue protecting the interest of the Igbo in all their endeavors and incorporate them in his administration, especially in making public policies.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, stated this while addressing APGA members and supporters at a rally at Attani, headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. “Let me remind us that I have been championing the course of the Igbo. In 2017, when they refused to grant Nnamdi Kanu bail, I led 12 prominent personalities from Igbo land to Kuje Prison, where we facilitated his release. “I was the one that addressed journalists after the visit. Few days later, he was released. By that time, I didn’t know him.

Why I am saying this is because we need to form a formidable force that will negotiate the progress and status of the Igbo in Nigeria. “We need a platform where the Igbo will be in the forefront and not at the rear, and APGA is the platform. The welfare of the South -East can be achieved through proper dialogue and negotiations, and not by arms and destruction of life and property,” Soludo added. He emphasized that APGA’s leadership under Governor Willie Obiano remains the best and had touched every sector of development. The governorship candidate promised to deploy his professionalism and political expertise in providing the needs of the people, added that his urban renewal programme would commence simultaneously in the state.
