Como manager Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he instructed his players to reduce their intensity after establishing a commanding 4-0 lead against Manchester United.
Como eventually conceded a late goal through Joshua Zirkzee but still secured an emphatic 4-1 victory.
Nico Paz was the standout performer for the Serie A side, scoring twice and providing the assist for Anastasios Douvikas’ second goal.
Jacobo Ramon added Como’s fourth goal in the 76th minute, rising highest to head home a cross and further extend the hosts’ advantage.
However, Fabregas admitted that he regretted his decision to slow the tempo during the closing stages, explaining that he wanted his team to conserve energy ahead of their next fixture.
“I regret the last ten minutes because I was the one who told the team to slow down the tempo because there’s another match and at 4-0 we could manage things a little,” Fabregas said.
