A Presidential aspirant in the 2023 Presidential election, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa says he will fight for the interest of Igbos to ensure they are accorded all their rights and privileges.
Ohuabunwa said this when he met with the students’ wing of the Igbos for a Progressive and United Nationhood (IPAN), after the last briefing of the group in Awka.
The meeting was an interactive discussion centred on the South East producing a president and how to promote a peaceful and united Nigeria.
Ohuabunwa said he would ensure unity of the entire southeast and attract lofty projects to enhance development.
“I’m delighted to be honoured by IPAN, a golden voice of Igbos for united nationhood. I’m also happy that IPAN shares the same ideology with me.
“Our nation is divided because of injustice in virtually every section of the country at one time or the other by misguided leadership.’’
Ohuabunwa said: “I believe this country can be fully reunited by a leadership that allows justice, equity and fair play to reign and I strongly believe that with our collective efforts we will achieve it”.
He thanked the IPAN Student’s Wing for finding him worthy of its distinguished recognition and appreciation.
“I thank the leadership of IPAN for the good works they are doing in Ala Igbo.
“I decided to run for the presidency because of what IPAN is doing. The statement released by IPAN during their last news conference made me believe that the Igbos will support an Igbo agenda.
“I seek the support of IPAN in general for the realisation of Igbo presidency in 2023.’’
The IPAN Student’s Wing President, Okereke Nnamdi Nwafor, thanked him for his hospitality and also told him that he would report back to the IPAN National executive to inform them about his appeal.
When contacted, the National President of IPAN, Mr Lawrence Onuzulike, said IPAN would not relent in projecting the affairs of Igbos.
“We’re happy that people like Kingsley Moghalu, Pius Anyim Pius, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa and others have started showing more seriousness toward realizing their dreams.
“IPAN will continue to monitor the situation and show support when needed,” Onuzulike stressed.
