Igbo Must Go Campaign Hits Rocks

By Sonnie Nwosu

A former Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bode George has carpeted the promoters of Igbo must leave Lagos campaign, describing such a nuisance as idiotic and arrant nonsense.

Bode George, a bona-fide indigene of Lagos State asserted that those making the unbridled call are not real indigenes of Lagos State but those who came from other states and neighbouring countries to forment trouble in the State.

He stated that original lagosians have been living peacefully with Igbos, played local football with them and without discrimination.

He frowned at the level of ignorance being exhibited by the amorphous group spreading such hate speech and recalled that Zik, an Igbo joined his great grand uncle, Herbert Macauley to fight the colonial masters with NCNC party, even before Awolowo and his group returned from England.

He buttressed his stand on the vexatious issue with the last broadcast of the president who condemned the campaign and asked the promoters to perish such thoughts, declaring that Nigeria has no room for such mentality.

The visibly enraged elder statesman posited that the Igbos are accommodated like those who came from neighbouring States to reside in Lagos, buying land and building houses, paying taxes and contributing massively to the development of Lagos.

He cautioned the miscreants promoting and fanning the embers of disunity in Lagos to desist from such despicable actions and embrace peaceful coexistence with all the inhabitants of the State.
