IMF, World Bank’s advise to increase fuel price will impoverish Nigerians, says Onuesoke

Chairman of Onuesoke Foundation in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has warned that any attempt to increase the fuel price to N750 per a litre as misadvised by World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) would totally make life unbearable for Nigerians.

He noted that such unrealistic advise given by International Monetary Fund ( IMF) and World Bank to the Federal Government will further impoverish Nigerians.

The former governorship aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), appealed to Federal Government to throw away the World Bank and IMF’s demand which he described as anti-Nigerians.

Onuesoke spoke at a press conference on Saturday held in his office, in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.

The Urhobo politician lamented, “ It is unfortunate that the World Bank and IMF now determine the fate of Nigerians and how to run the country’s economy”

“ Both the World Bank and IMF had and will continue to destroy Nigeria economy with their theoretical ideology of a balanced and liberal market which has never recorded any success”

According to him, “The World Bank and IMF have never meant well for any African Countries. It’s this same World Bank, during the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, that kept on hammering that fuel subsidy must be removed when they know there is no concrete substitute (e.g refinery not working) to cushion its effects on the masses”

“ While the IMF do give stupid and nonsensical advice to policy makers in African Countries on monetary tightening, like increasing taxes and devaluation of their currencies when they already know the effects on the already beaten and battered citizenry”

“ President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on resumption of office, he increased the fuel price that is presently hunting Nigeria with high inflation rate coupled with hunger biting harder on the masses who were already impoverished with unfriendly government economic policies”

“ The World Bank and IMF were set up by the slave masters to impoverish African Countries and keep them on their leash forever”

The Media influencer cautioned World Bank and IMF to steer clear of Nigeria economic policies and allow the country to implement its own policies that will be of benefit to its citizens.

“ Let World Bank create good living condition for Nigerians, it should not only be interested in fixing bench marks on fuel prices in Nigeria alone. They should equally fix benchmark on minimum wage and other government social responsibilities as it is obtained in the developed world”
