Investors in the Nigerian Stock Exchange market gained N60 billion on Monday.
Seplat Petroleum, Japaul Group, Mutual Benefits Assurance, Aiico Insurance Plc and Multiverse Mining and Exploration emerged as the top five gainers of the day.
Seplat Petroleum appreciated by 10 per cent and closed at N544.50 per stock. Japaul Gold appreciated by 9.86 per cent and closed at N0.78 per cent, Mutual Benefits gained by 9.52 per cent and closed at N0.46, Aiico Insurance gained by 9.26 per cent and closed at N1.18 while Multiverse Mining and Exploration gained 9.09 per cent and closed at N0.24.
Royal Exports and Conoil Production Limited emerged the biggest losers of the day with their stock depreciating by 10 per cent and closing at N0.27 and N18.9 each. R. T. Briscoe Nigeria Limited, Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc and Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc also lost by 9.09 per cent, 8.70 per cent and 7.69 per cent respectively.
Zenith Bank was crowned the top trade of the day with 21.5 million stocks sold valued at N540 million.
Analysts have said that the performance across sectors was broadly positive following gains in the oil and gas sectors.
