IPOB sit-at-home: IPAN condemns act

An international group, Igbos for a Progressive Nigeria, IPAN, has in strong terms condemned the every-Monday-sit-at – home declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

IPOB earlier declared sit-at-home in all the South East in solidarity with the arrest of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The sit-at-home exercise is geared towards Mandating the federal government to immediately release Nnamdi Kanu.

Speaking in a briefing, the National Leader of IPAN, Comrade Lawrence Onuzulike said the exercise will not be to the best interest of Igbos.

Comrade Lawrence said it would affect the economic growth of Nigeria and the South East in general.

“IPOB must not continue to oppress the Igbos and add to their sufferings. Why must they force their fights and struggles on the entire Igbo nation. It is condemnable.

“If Governors of the south-east cannot protect the lives and properties of their subject, then something is wrong.

“We Call on the federal government to protect the lives of Igbos if Igbo leaders are playing hide and seek”

And on his part, Dr. Eugene Uche, the secretary of IPAN, calls on IPOB to fight to protect the Igbos and not to always oppress and threaten them.

He recalled that immediately IPOB’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested, IPAN was the first to call for a fair trial.

He reiterated that the South-East governors and Igbo leaders, in general, must wake up to their responsibilities of protecting the lives and properties of Igbos in the South East and ensure free movement of Igbo people in Igboland.
