Nigeria Vice President, Senator Shettima Kashim has commended Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his efforts towards sustaining peace in the state.
The Vice President stated this while commissioning a Five Kilometers Masaka -Luvu Road at Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State on Thursday.
According to the VP , it is inconsiderate for any community to stay in isolation, hence the need for harmonious coexistence , a path which the Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi Sule has shown capacity and forthrightness in the last four years.
He said” There can never be peace without development ,just as there can never be development without peace. I was in Plateau State yesterday to commensurate and to sympathize with the people of Bokkos and Barkin Ladi ,over the sad tragedy that befalled us on Christmas eve, is inconsiderable for any community to leave alone as an island, we have to learn to embrace each other, tolerate one another.
” And for us in Northern Nigeria , we are all united by way of our heritage of poverty and destitution, so I see no reason why we should be fighting each other instead of collectively fighting poverty, destitution and backwardness in our society” The VP reiterated.
On his part, the Nasarawa State Governor , Engineer Abdullahi Sule thanked the vice president for making up time in spite of his tight schedules to commission the road , saying it was only last week he seek the attention of the vice president which was because of the historic nature of the road .
According to Engineer Sule there are more longer roads, much bigger projects but this one is much historical in nature.
” It is indeed historical in nature because it was the dream of our father, the first executive governor , Senator Abdullahi Adamu ,but it was in 2022 that I received a call from your immediate predecessor the former vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo who told me that he was going to a village called Luvu.
“So I asked how important is the project he was going to commissioned and he said the contractor built some houses and at the same time selling at the same prices they used in building , so I again asked him what time he was going to be there and he said in the next two hours , what I thought is ,we are going to be there at that time but I later discovered the road was bad as it took us One hour and half to get to the site due to how bad the road was at that time ” Engineer Sule said.
In their goodwill messages , Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada , representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District and Honourable Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi member representing Keffi, Karu Kokona Federal Constituency, showered appreciation on Engineer Abdullahin Sule and the vice president for their desire for infrastructure development and taking their time to come to the area to commission the Luvu road which was neglected for over 20 years .
Senator Wadada in his good will message seek the federal government interventions and the possibility of establishing a FCT Catchment Areas Development Commission,which coffers be utilize for solving any challenges arising from neighbouring state to the Federal Capital City.
