The Ondo Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has described the news reports that some Fulani men are camped and are being trained at the Army Barracks, Okitipupa as false
The Governor said the issue had been investigated by the security agencies and found to be false.
A legal practitioner, Mr Wale Odusola, had last week raised alarm that about 3,000 Fulani men were taking shelter inside the Okitipupa Army Barrack in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Odusola stated this barely 24 hours after the state government returned 45 northern youths, who were apprehended at the gate of the army barracks Okitipupa by the men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, to their home towns.
Odusola posted his allegation on his Facebook page on that his independent findings showed that the Fulani men had been given open land in the barracks to build shelters.
The post reads, “I have carried out my independent findings and I find the following as facts and true; that Hausas and Fulanis numbering over 3,000 are occupying the army barracks”.
But Governor Akeredolu in a broadcast said, “The recent issue which dominated the social media and the media space of some Fulani men being trained at the Army Barracks, Okitipupa has been investigated by the security agencies and found to be false.
“We can confirm to our good people that there are no 3,000 Fulani men resident in Army Barracks in Okitipupa. It is, therefore, preposterous for anyone to presume that information was true.
