The Ondo State election petition tribunal has fixed April 2021 for judgement.
Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Umar Abubakar gave the ruling after counsel to parties adopted their written addresses.
This followed multiple hearings on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and it’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede challenging the victory of governor Oluwarotimi in the October 2020 election.
Adopting his final brief of argument, Counsel to the petitioner, Onyechi Ikpeazu accused defence counsel of trying to trivialise the constitutional matter.
He insisted that Akeredolu and his Deputy, lucky Aiyedatiwa were not validly nominated to contest in the poll.
However, in his final address, counsel to INEC, Charles Edosomwan faulted the claim of the petitioner that Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa were not lawfully sponsored by the APC.
He, therefore, prayed the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit.
