Supreme court has affirmed Barr. Okey Ezea as the party’s candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District for the 2023 general elections.
It should be recalled that both high and Appeal courts had earlier delivered judgements in favour of Barr. Ezea, but his rival Comrade Ernest Ugwu rejected the judgement and headed to Supreme court.
It was gathered that with the Supreme Court’s judgement, Comrade Ernest Ugwu, the placeholder who resigned to give way to Ideke, is now expected to work harder for the party (LP) he co-founded as a labour leader.
One of the party members, Chief John Ugwu told our reporter that ” we are so happy for the judgement.”
However, accusing the PDP in the state for fuelling crisis in the Labour Party, Ugwu said, “some PDP chiefs in Enugu State, who had been fingered as those trying to disorganise the Labour Party with frivolous lawsuits, may now get ready to face the electorate in a free and fair election next month.
“Barrister Ezea has received the news with joy and has enjoined à ll the people of Enugu North to vote for him and all other Labour Party candidates including Peter Obi for president and Chijioke Edeoga for governor.”
